As you travel around the lovely city of Udaipur and the surrounding countryside, you will notice the signs: "Save Water - Save our Lakes - Save Udaipur". The lakes of Udaipur are its glorious jewels. Ethical Feast PDF Print E-mail

This is a Project Heading note for the Ethical Feast insert to Greening India.

Basic idea

Model the Ethical Feast on an exclusive, high dollar, gastronome adventure tour. But instead of restricitng the sensual celebration of amazing food to a merely private gratification, we invite our guests on an immersive engagement with the world of ideas, issues, and opportunities in "right" food. For example:

  • All food is locally sourced from small, traditional growers. And we visit them and talk with them and perhaps even lend a hand.
  • All food is prepared by hand in a homestyle fashion. And we participate in the preparation.
  • The Feast(s) are a contribution to the communities that host them. We introduce ourselves to the community and exchange stories about our worlds.
  • The profit from the Feast are invested in school gardens and traditional medicine gardens.

(these are initial thoughts to be extended and refined over time)

We suggest a maximum of 30 people, the Feast takes place over 5 days in concert the with Greening India Festival. Based in Udaipur, and with some field feasts in regional settings (Valle, Jhadol, etc) .
