Jheel Sanrakshan Samiti (Udaipur Lake Conservation Society) PDF Print E-mail
As you travel around the lovely city of Udaipur and the surrounding countryside, you will notice the signs: "Save Water - Save our Lakes - Save Udaipur". The lakes of Udaipur are its glorious jewels. So what's going on? Is this the work of an alarmist reactionary group or is there a terrible crisis breweing beneath the surface of the marketing brochures and smiling Chamber of Commerce?

The answer, according to Jheel Sanrakshan Samiti (Udaipur Lake Conservation Society), is that bad planning, corrupt development, and a lack of awareness have led to a tragic decline in the health, extent, and resilience of Udaipur's fabled lakes.

The group's Joint Secretary, Anil Mehta, believes that the group has achieved great changes despite incredible adversity and virtually no financial support since its inception 16 years ago.Yet much remains to be done.

If you're interested in participating further, please review the group's information pages , and see if there are current activities on the boil here on this page.
